Travel to Dordogne and Charente * getting to the Dordogne and Charente by road, plane and train
Access Our area on the Charente/Dordogne borders is about 350 miles from the Channel Ports of Le Havre/Caen/Cherbourg and St. Malo, about 500 miles from Calais/Boulogne. There is good motorway access from all including the more recently opened route from Boulogne via Rouen, thus avoiding Paris. The Eurostar/TGV high-speed rail service serves the Capital town of the Charente, Angoulême which is about thirty minutes drive from our office. It offers a relaxed mode of transport with reserved seats and a hire car for collection if you wish. Change from Eurostar to TGV at Lille for speed of journey, alternatively made an interesting diversion with a break in Paris itself. www.eurostar.com Scheduled flights including British Airways (www.britishairways.com) London Gatwick to Bordeaux have in recent years been supplemented by "budget flights" which offer cheap tickets to various destinations in France, but any of these routes could be subject to withdrawal by the Operator at any time. So, do not buy a house just because you can fly close to it today! At the time of writing the current list feeding our area is as follows:- RYANAIR - www.ryanair.com Angoulême - from Spring 2008 Bergerac - Stanstead / East Midlands / Bristol / Liverpool Limoges - Stanstead / East Midlands / Liverpool Poitiers - Stanstead La Rochelle - Stanstead / Dublin FLYBE - www.flybe.com Bergerac - Southampton / Exeter / Manchester / Leeds Bradford / Bristol Limoges - Southampton EASYJET - www.easyjet.com Bordeaux - Luton / Bristol La Rochelle - Gatwick / Bristol |
